Wallabies discard Quade Cooper will have a chance to reaffirm his international credentials when he captains the Alan Jones-coached Barbarians against Australia's Test side.

A Wallabies regular until The Rugby Championship this year, the five-eighth will skipper the invitational team at Sydney's Allianz Stadium on October 28.

Jones, a former Wallabies coach, tweeted the announcement on Wednesday and interviewed the 70-Test veteran on his 2GB radio show.

Cooper has been playing for Brisbane City in the NRC this season while the Wallabies have played New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina.

The 29-year-old said he would be out to entertain rugby fans with a focus on attack.

"That's what I love doing, I'm going to be up there doing my best to attack from everywhere and really making it entertaining for the fans," Cooper said.

"There's a lot of emphasis these days being put on defence and that in turn slows the whole game down, and having the focus on attack can break down defences and also make it entertaining.

"It's always fun to do, come up with new ways to be able to break down these defences."

Three days after the Baa-Baas game, the Wallabies depart Australia for a Test in Japan enroute to their spring tour in Europe, suggesting Cooper's national career may be over.
