Canadian's on-field RWC espionage flops

Powered by

A Canadian player’s cheeky attempt to eavesdrop on the French during a Rugby World Cup clash has failed badly.

With the Canadians trailing 17-12 late in the first half and Les Bleus camped on their line, Jamie Cudmore decided his team needed some inside information.

The Francophile lock, who plays in France for Clermont Auvergne, could be seen wandering up to the French huddle and crouching down as he listens.

Cudmore’s attempt at on-field espionage was short-lived with French prop Rabah Silmani playing the role of bouncer and dragging the lock away.

He obviously didn’t obtain any information as a French rolling maul led to a try with the next play.

France booked a quarter-final spot with a 41-18 win.
