Wallabies outside back Andrew Kellaway has announced his retirement from rugby.

The 31-year-old scored 14 tries in 49 Tests after making his debut for Australia in 2021 against France in Brisbane.

“Closing the curtain on 12 incredible years. Special people, special places and lots to remember,” Kellaway said on Instagram.

"Big thank you to everyone who supported along the way and those that played a part. It’s been real."

Kellaway did not get picked for the Wallabies this year after the NSW Waratahs’ struggles in Super Rugby.

He came off contract with the Waratahs at the end of the 2026 season.

Kellaway started working part-time for a foreign exchange company in 2024.

“My career after rugby in a weird way really excites me... try and excel and work your way up exactly like you did in rugby. Hopefully, it provides a bit of balance, and we’ll see where we go,” he told nine.com.au in 2025.

“It’s still a little bit like first day at school in the office at the moment. I don’t know what to do with my hands, and it’s a bit weird, but no, it’s good. Sometimes I’m staring at the board, like, ‘should I write something, let everyone know that I’m contributing’?”

Kellaway also played for the Melbourne Rebels, Counties Manukau, Northampton Saints and Green Rockets Tokatsu.

Kellaway broke into The Scots College first XV in year 10 while winning selection for Australian Schools and then the national under-20s.

A prodigious talent, Kellaway scored 10 tries in five games at the 2014 under-20 world championship - breaking the record jointly held by All Blacks-in-waiting Julian Savea and Zac Guildford.

The Rebels’ collapse in 2024 made a return to Sydney a no-brainer with wife Claudia and their two young children.

“An easy way to put it is I think I probably left as a boy, and I’ve come back a man - in very, very simple terms,” Kellaway said at the time.

“Everyone learns lessons at their own pace and in their own way and for me, it sort of required going around the world to pick it all up.”
