Ronda Rousey shares horrific photo of partially-severed finger after TV accident

Former UFC champion turned WWE superstar Ronda Rousey has shared a horrific photo of her partially-severed finger, after nearly losing the digit while shooting a TV show.

Rousey, 32, shared the image on Instagram, saying that she was injured while shooting an episode in the third season of Fox drama 9-1-1. Rousey plays Los Angeles fire fighter Lena Bosko in the show.

Rousey wrote on Instagram that a boat door was responsible for the damage.

Incredibly, the fighter said that she finished the take before looking at the finger and realising the extreme damage. She then returned to work the next day.

"Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand," Rousey wrote.

"I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I'm used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I'm supposed to).

"After a break in the action, I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws.

'I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover. Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50 per cent range of motion back in three days."

Rousey was the UFC's biggest start during a 12-2 pro MMA career in which she was a dominant champion in the women's bantamweight division, before retiring after devastating losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.

The former Olympic judoka, a bronze medallist at Beijing 2008, if now one of the biggest names in the WWE's female wrestling ranks.
