This $877,000 (US$697,000) poker hand will decide once and for all if you are a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty person.

Three of poker’s biggest names – Tom Dwan, Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu became locked in a high stakes hand during a cash game in Las Vegas.

Dwan was sitting pretty with pocket aces, much to the eventual shock of Esfandiari who was feeling great with his pocked kings. Negreanu – who had the usually strong hand of pocket queens – smartly realised he wasn’t all that strong when his rivals each threw US$328,000 (just over $400,000) into the pot.

Dwan won and pocketed almost enough money to buy a house in Sydney while Esfandiari had every right to look a little dejected after being soundly beaten.

Those losses made the $47,000 that Negreanu forfeited seem like nothing.

If you’re a glass-half-full person you’ll think ''that could have been me’’ while looking at Dwan.

If you’re in the glass-half-empty camp you’ll be thinking ''that could have been me’’ as Esfandiari said goodbye to all that money.

The commentator’s call of ''I really hope that sushi stays down’’ could not have been more apt for Esfandiari.
