PGA chief signs off by reading mean tweets
Notoriously dull PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem’s attempt at humour has fallen flat at his final media call in the role.
Finchem may have facilitated the evolution of golf on the world stage by helping to create a financially viable globalised tour, but what may stick in the mind of most fans is his droll voice.
In perhaps his final media appearance as commissioner at the Tour Championship, Finchem decided to read out some of the meanest Tweets that people had posted about him.
But the 69-year-old’s self-deprecating routine registered a few awkward laughs as his trademark monotone voice once again got the better of him.
Even with material that included lines like this: "The PGA Tour commissioner talks like the head of an activities board at a retirement home."
Check out Finchem’s awkward comedy routine for yourself.
