Paul Gallen confesses huge 'animosity' ahead of mega-fight

Paul Gallen says trash-talking former UFC star Mark Hunt ahead of their mega-fight is among the least of his concerns.

Gallen, 39, will square off with Hunt, 46, after the bout was officially given the go-ahead for December 16 at Bankwest Stadium.

The fight card also features the headline bout between undefeated Aussie Tim Tszyu who takes on The undefeated Tszyu will take on New Zealand fighter Bowyn Morgan.

It's the first co-main event ever held Down Under and the first bout in a football stadium since Anthony Mundine fought Danny Green in 2006.

But unlike Gallen's last promotion where he famously went back and forth in a bitter war of words with Barry Hall, the former Sharks captain says this time it's different.

Gallen revealed the "genuine dislike" he had towards Hall isn't the same with Hunt, who he has known personally for years.

"I answer my questions honestly and as honest as I can," Gallen told 2GB's Wide World of Sports Radio.

"Boxing has a position for a bit of crap talk as we know.

"I'm all up for it when it's necessary or when I feel that way, as we've seen with Barry Hall – after meeting him there was genuine dislike there.

"Me and Mark have known each other for a long time and there's no need to make things up or talk crap about for the sake of it to try and pump it up. This is a big enough event without it.

"It's going to be a huge event for boxing and huge event for New South Wales after the year we've had. It doesn't need anything like that.

"I'm sure there's going to be a bit of animosity leading up to it without a doubt.

"There's no need to be going out of the way to talk crap about each other, the fight will sell itself."
