Barry Hall fires back at Paul Gallen's 'two-minute noodles' fight sledge

Barry Hall has fired back at Paul Gallen for nicknaming him "Noodles", over the former AFL star's insistence on contesting two-minute rounds in their fight.

NRL great Gallen (9-0, five KOs) will face Hall in his professional boxing debut on November 15 at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena.

But rather than fighting regular three-minute rounds, the bout will be six rounds of two minutes. Gallen branded the decision \ and compared Hall to two-minute noodles.

Hall wasn't happy, turning the two-minute noodles sledge back on his opponent with a menacing edge.

"Judging by Paul Gallen's latest attempt of trash talk... I wouldn't be surprised if his new book is written in crayon," Hall wrote in an Instagram post.

"I am a serious fighter and I am prepared. 2 min noodles might be the food for him after this fight!!!"

Hall also took a crack at Gallen's fight record, suggesting that it was built on mismatches. He said that Gallen's latest win over John Hopoate, a fellow ex-rugby league player and former Australian heavyweight champion, came against a "totally unfit" opponent.

It isn't the first time that Hall has taken exception to Gallen's verbal attacks before the fight.

"While Paul Gallen has been talking s--t, I've been honing on my skill and power… it will shut him up in the ring on November 15," Hall wrote in a previous Instagram post.

Hall, a gun amateur boxer before pursuing his footy career, has posted a raft of training videos that show he's in good condition ahead of facing Gallen.

Meanwhile, the NRL star has sparred with the likes of heavyweight world title contender Hughie Fury and UFC fighter Tyson Pedro.

"We're professional athletes in a big fight and Barry won't fight three-minutes rounds, which is what boxing is. We're fighting two-minute rounds, which I think is totally embarrassing," Gallen said on Sports Sunday.

"Barry, man up. Let's fight three-minute rounds and box properly. A proper boxing event, OK? Man up."
