Parents offer no sympathy to clotheslined ice hockey star

A junior American ice hockey player who clotheslined himself with his stick says his mum and dad think his newly found fame is “hilarious”.

Alpena Flyers’ Mitchell Skiba was coming off the ice after being evicted from a Midwest Junior Hockey League game for spearing over the weekend when he lashed out in frustration at the protective glass with his stick.

The hilarious footage shows the stick gets stuck on both sides of the doorway and bounces up off Skiba’s chest and into his throat, knocking him to the ground.

Despite the stick causing Skiba’s head to violently jolt back, the forward manages to get up and quickly rush down the tunnel and off camera.

The Michigan teen told a radio station that his friends are loving his status as a viral sensation.

“So do mum and dad. They think it’s hilarious, being all over SportsCenter and what not.”
