Australian Olympic canoeist Daniel Watkins hospitalised after return flight from Tokyo
Australian Olympic canoeist Daniel Watkins is in hotel quarantine after suffering "a minor medical incident" during his flight home from Tokyo.

It has emerged that Watkins had to be taken to hospital following a medical concern that arose mid-flight.
It has not been clarified what the health issue was, but the Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed the slalom canoeist is now undergoing his hotel quarantine in Sydney after being released from hospital.

"Slalom canoeist Daniel Watkins suffered a minor medical incident on his return flight into Sydney from Tokyo yesterday morning," an Australian Olympic Committee statement said.
"He was taken to hospital and later released into hotel quarantine."
The 25-year-old placed ninth in the C1 slalom final during the Tokyo Games.
Watkins would have won silver if he had been able to produce his semi-final time in the deciding run.
Tokyo's strict biosecurity protocols mean every athlete must depart the city within 48 hours of their final event.
