Swimming Australia’s website is currently operating in an “under attack” mode in the wake of Olympic swimmer Mack Horton’s controversial comments about Chinese competitor, Sun Yang.

Anyone logging onto the site is greeted by a message that reads “checking your browser”, before it proceeds to the site, in what the ABC reports is a process designed to check the veracity of those accessing the page to ensure they are legitimate.

The system is aimed at preventing what is referred to as a “denial of service” or DoS attack.

It comes after Horton’s social media accounts were bombarded with thousands of comments from Chinese users after he spoke out about Yang’s previous doping ban.

Swimming Australia has not commented on the attack, but the ABC said it has been referred to the Government for investigation.
