Russian divers foiled by crumbling platform

The Russian diving team have learnt an invaluable lesson ahead of the Rio Olympics.

Never take your training base to Cuba.

A pair of divers were practicing a synchronised routine when the platform crumbles and one of the duo is sent unceremoniously tumbling down.

Footage shows the two men standing on top of the 10m platform somewhere in the capital of Havana, arms outstretched and ready to commit to the dive.

But just as they spring into action, the platform under the diver furthest from the camera breaks away and he cartwheels into the air, narrowly missing the jagged ledge.

The incident would no doubt leave the duo, and the rest of the team, chasing a more trust-worthy venue to continue their preparations ahead of the Games.

Because an entry and subsequent splashdown of that calibre will surely receive some horror scores in Rio.
