Olympic Games Paris 2024 daily schedule: Preliminary day 2

Before the official opening ceremony takes place in Paris, some of Australia's biggest stars will be in action on Thursday night and early Friday morning (AEST).

Headlining the green and gold fixtures will be the Matildas, who captured the hearts and minds of the country at least year's World Cup on home soil.

Mary Fowler, Ellie Carpenter and Caitlin Foord headline the stars in action at the Olympics, while superstar forward Sam Kerr is out due to injury.

Their first task will come against Germany in Marseille in a Group B clash.

The men's rugby sevens team will also be competing in their final group stage game after playing their first two matches on the first day of competition.
