Katie Ledecky breaks her own 1500m freestyle Olympic record as legend grows with gold
American swimming legend Katie Ledecky has claimed her first gold medal of Paris 2024 by triumphing in the women's 1500m freestyle final.
Ledecky finished 10 seconds ahead of second place, breaking her own Olympic record with a time of 15:30.02.
France's Anastasiia Kirpichnikova secured a silver medal, while Germany's Isabel Gose took home the bronze in third.

"Katie is ecstatic with that time," Nine commentator Giaan Rooney said.
She was clearly thrilled with the win, splashing the water and pumping her fist several times walking across the deck.
Australian Moesha Johnson finished in sixth place with a time of 16.02.70.
Ledecky has already taken home a bronze medal for the 400m freestyle event, finishing behind Australian Ariarne Titmus.
The American's domination in the 1500m freestyle final is her 12th Olympic medal, tied for the most ever by a female swimmer.
The other two are Jenny Thompson and Emma McKeon.
