MISSED - The Boomers' chance to play the United States' men's basketball team for the gold medal after Australia lost the semi-final to Serbia 87-61.

PIONEERED - Chloe Esposito became Australia's first modern pentathlon medallist after coming from fourth overall in the final event to win gold.

CLAIMED - A silver medal by Jared Tallent in the men's 50km walk at the Games, becoming the first Australian male track and field athlete to win four Olympic medals.
