Last Aussie judoka bows out in Rio

Australia will have to wait another four years for another shot at Olympic glory in judo, after Miranda Giambelli bowed out in less than 40 seconds.

The 24-year-old, born in Canberra but grew up in Italy, went down by ippon to local Brazilian favourite Mayra Aguiar in their 78kg round of 16 match on Thursday.

She was the last of seven Australian judokas competing at the Games, with only two winning their first bout before being eliminated.
