Iles gets shooting spot for Rio Olympics
Teenage shooter Mitch Iles' selection for the Rio Olympics has been ratified by Shooting Australia.
Iles, 17, last week won a Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal against his initial non-selection in the men's trap event.
With veteran Michael Diamond ruled ineligible for the Games, Iles and Adam Vella have been chosen by Shooting Australia's selection committee, the organisation confirmed on Monday.
Diamond, a dual Olympic champion, lost his bid to compete at a seventh Games after he was charged with drink-driving and firearms offences and stripped of his gun licence last month.
Iles had earlier appealed over the selection of Diamond and Adam Vella to the CAS.
"Due to the ineligibility of Michael Diamond ... Shooting Australia have nominated Adam Vella and Mitchell Iles for selection," Shooting Australia said in a statement on Monday.
