Gaudry fails to qualify for tramp final

Australian Blake Gaudry went one step better than four years ago in London, but again failed to qualify for the men's trampoline final at the Olympics.

A disappointing second routine cost Gaudry any chance of making the last eight, after he had been well-placed after the first routine.

But unlike in 2012 when he came off during his second routine, Gaudry managed to keep it together - though his score of 55.925 was well off the pace.

"I was really happy with the first routine, but the second routine was a bit of a fight," Gaudry told AAP after finishing 13th out of 16 competitors.

"I was happy that I was able to get out there and do what I didn't do in London - there I was in a tricky situation and it all fell apart.

"This time I was in a similar situation, it wasn't a great routine but I got through it and finished it off."
