Controlled explosion at Olympic facility

Bomb squad police have conducted another controlled explosion at the Rio Olympics, this time in the International Broadcast Centre.

A white package was found in the toilets of the centre early on Friday morning.

The national forces bomb squad was called in to secure the area and conduct the controlled blast.

Olympic officials say there was no need to evacuate the building.

The package was found to contain a network board and a some wires but no explosives.

The incident is the latest in a series of controlled explosions across Rio since the start of the Olympics including one near the finish of the cycling road race and one at the main basketball venue in Olympic Park.
