Biles to carry US flag at Rio closing

Simone Biles, five-time gymnastics medallist - four of them gold - will carry the US flag into the closing ceremony of the Rio Games, the US Olympic Committee says.

Biles was chosen by fellow US Olympians in a vote.

"It's an incredible honour," Biles said.

Biles made her Olympic debut in Rio, winning team gold and individual titles in women's all-around, vault and floor exercise, along with a bronze on balance beam.

She's one of only four women, and the first American, to win four golds in a single Olympics.

Her four golds matched the record set by Larissa Latynina of the Soviet Union in 1956, Czech Vera Caslavska in 1968 and Romanian Ekaterina Szabo in 1984.
