Aussies end Kiwi sailors' winning streak

Australia's Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen have hit winning form at the right time to make it back-to-back sailing gold medals in the 49er class at the Rio Olympic Games.

In claiming the South American championships in Brazil, the 2012 London gold medallists ended the winning streak enjoyed by New Zealand's Peter Burling and Blair Tuke.

Silver medallists in 2012, Burling and Tuke had been unbeaten in 27 regattas since London.

The pre-Rio tune-up was held on Guanabara Bay, the same water which will host the Olympic sailing competition over 11 days from August 9.
