ATHLETES TO WATCH AT THE EQUESTRIAN IN RIO

EDWINA TOPS-ALEXANDER (Showjumping)- A two-time Olympian, Tops-Alexander has been in brilliant form and was an early selection for the Australian team. In April, the 42-year-old won the prestigious Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Miami.

SCOTT KEACH (Showjumping)- The 51-year-old Australian is making a return to Olympic competition 28 years after his first appearance at the Seoul Games. Scored a big win in the showjumping's highly-regarded Ocala Grand Prix in Florida in February.

SHANE ROSE (Eventing) - A silver medallist in three-day eventing team from the Beijing Olympics, the Australian won the Sydney International Horse trials in May. He also finished first and second in the Australian International Three Day Event in Adelaide last November.

MICHAEL JUNG (Eventing) - The German star won gold in the individual eventing and team eventing at the London Olympics and is again among the favourites for Rio. In 2012, he became the first rider to hold the Olympic, World and European titles at the same time. This year, he won the Badminton Horse trials and Rolex Grand Slam.

CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN (Dressage)- The most successful British dressage rider in the history of the sport. She won gold at the London Olympics in the team dressage and the individual dressage. The 30-year-old holds the Olympic freestyle, World freestyle and Grand Prix Special, World Cup dressage and European freestyle and Grand Prix Special titles.
