Mr Skyball hard to handle at Rio Olympics

Powered by

Italian beach volleyball player Adrian Carambula has become the talk of the town in Rio after showcasing his unique serve.

The Italian has mastered utilising the “skyball”, where he sends the volleyball soaring so high into the sky it bamboozles his opponents.

Not only does he punch the life out of the ball, he also hits it on an angle which makes the ball spin so fast it becomes too hard to return serve.

Carambula claims he is only professional player on the volleyball tour using the serve but reports suggest a Brazilian player in the 1980’s used the same method.

Italy lost to host nation Brazil in their last preliminary match and take on the United States in their next pool game.
