X-ray reveals Tupou's horrific injuries
One of the x-rays used by surgeons to repair Anthony Tupou's fractured jaw has revealed the full extent of his horrific injuries.
The Cronulla backrower sustained the facial fractures courtesy of a raised knee from Warriors freight train Konrad Hurrell.Hurrell was charging the ball early during the Warriors win over Cronulla when he blasted through Tupou's diving legs tackle in the 48th minute.
Tupou was left prone on the turf at Remondis Stadium with blood pouring from his mouth.
The New Zealand centre was placed on report while Tupou was taken from the field and hospitalised.
While it was later confirmed that he'd suffered a broken jaw, only now has the full extent of his injuries become known.
Surgeons used four plates, more than a dozen screws and wiring to repair the shattered bones.
