Wigan power past Toronto in Super League

Wigan wore down a Toronto team reduced to just 17 available players to mark captain Sean O'Loughlin's 400th Super League appearance with a 32-10 victory.

The depleted Wolfpack scored first for the third time in as many matches and were level at 10-10 after 58 minutes.

But their stoical efforts took a heavy toll as they conceded four late tries to leave themselves still searching for a first win in Super League.

Already without Sonny Bill Williams after the former All Black flew back to New Zealand for the birth of his fourth child, Toronto coach Brian McDermott was forced to make a late change after former St Helens loose forward Jon Wilkin pulled out after the warm-up with a knee problem.

Gary Wheeler, Toronto's 18th man, was drafted on to the bench and Toronto's problems worsened when James Cunningham, who had been promoted to the starting line-up in place of Wilkin, limped off after only six minutes.

The luckless Canadian club also lost prop Gadwin Springer with concussion and finished the game with 12 men after centre Hakim Miloudi was sin-binned for a high tackle which curtailed O'Loughlin's involvement in his landmark game.

Exciting full-back Bevan French and long-serving forward Liam Farrell both scored two tries for Wigan, who handed a debut to former Castleford forward Mitch Clark.
