Wests Tigers cult hero Mahe Fonua has signed a three-year deal with English club Hull FC.

The hard-running centre/winger was recently told by coach Michael Maguire that he was not wanted for 2020 but there has been no shortage of clubs chasing Fonua.

He was in demand in both the NRL and Super League and decided on a sea change, today signing a long-term deal with the Hull FC club.

Fonua is a favourite son at Hull FC, having played there for two years and winning two Challenge Cups in 2016-17 before returning to Australia with the Tigers.

The 26-year-old has been a popular figure at Concord with his fearless running and bizarre hair styles.

But he suffered a foot injury in the recent game against Canberra and is unlikely to play again this season.
