Maroons star Michael Morgan’s night came to an early end when he again failed to return from the HIA after a gruesome collision with teammate Josh McGuire.

After almost missing the Origin decider due to a concussion sustained against the Dragons last week, Morgan’s night again came to an unceremonious end when he was floored in “friendly fire” mid-way through the second half.

Attempting to subdue James Tedesco, Morgan rushed in to the tackle, slipping off his target and colliding with McGuire’s elbow.

The play-maker was unconscious before he hit the ground as he lay motionless, face down on the turf as trainers rushed to his aid.

“Bit of friendly fire here,” NRL guru Phil Gould said.

“Michael Morgan has run into the elbow of Josh McGuire off the back of a tackle he’s come swinging around.

“Bang, he’s out before he hits the ground. That’s terrible luck.”

Parramatta Eels Legend Peter Sterling added that Morgan had “started twitching on the ground”.

“That’s not a good look.”

Morgan played no further part in the night and may have proved the difference in Queensland’s late comeback that was ultimately undone by Tedesco’s last-minute try.
