UPDATE: Manly has confirmed Tom Trbojevic suffered a torn pectoral after he was forced from the field just minutes into Origin II.

Trbjoevic was replaced by bench hooker Damien Cook in the centres and, shortly after, it was revealed the injury-plagued superstar would not play any further part in the match.

The 2021 Dally M Medal winner suffered the injury when he tackled Queensland fullback Reece Walsh as the Maroons' left-edge attack raided the New South Wales defence.

After disappearing up the race, Trbojevic was soon seen watching from the sideline with his right arm in a sling.

The injury was confirmed by Manly after scans on Thursday afternoon, and Trbojevic will see a specialist on Friday to determine the full extent of the tear and to map out a path forward.

Trobjevic's Manly teammate Daly Cherry-Evans was in the vicinity when the Blues star went down injured, and the Maroons skipper was visibly distressed when asked about the Sea Eagles star's latest blow.

"As soon as it happens it's hard not to feel a fair bit of sympathy for him," Cherry-Evans said after Origin II.

"My initial thought was that I hope it's not too bad. It's hard not to feel really sorry for Tommy with where he's at at the moment. My heart goes out to him."
