'Rattled the community': NSW Blues star Hudson Young devastated by tragic bus crash in home town

NSW Blues star Hudson Young has been devastated by the news of the Hunter Valley bus crash which claimed the lives of 10 people after attending a wedding, with the incident occurring in his home town.

The crash took place in Greta, where Young grew up and played his junior football for the Greta Braxton Colts.

Young said the tragedy has "definitely rattled the community" revealing that the victims will be on his mind when he takes the field for the Blues in Origin II next week.

"I'm from Greta, where the bus crash (happened) and it was devastating," he told 9News Sydney.

"I feel so sorry for all the families that are involved. It was such a special day and for it to end tragically like that is devastating.

"I don't know anyone that's involved, but it's definitely rattled the community. I know Greta is a close-knit community and I think most people involved were from Singleton, which is only a 15-minute drive up the road.

"Greta's always in my heart, but even more so now when something like that happens in such a small town."

Young has enjoyed a smoother preparation ahead of game two having overcome a niggling foot issue that hampered the lead-up into the series opener.

"It was actually pretty bad," he said of the injury.

"I don't like talking about those things, but I couldn't get a shoe on until the captain's run."
