Souths held up in Sydney Airport chaos

A power outage at Sydney Airport has left thousands of passengers stranded, including the South Sydney Rabbitohs squad.

The NRL team was due to board a flight on Friday morning ahead of their game with the North Queensland Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday evening.

Sydney Airport confirmed a power interruption at the T2 terminal on Friday morning, causing delays at check-in and screening, with hundreds of passengers stuck in the check-in area.

Airlines that operate from the T2 terminal include JetStar, Virgin and Tiger airlines.

Planes are reportedly being redirected away from the airport, with incoming flights also delayed.

Rabbitohs players including Greg Inglis, Chris McQueen and Luke Burgess took to Twitter to express their frustration at the delay.

"Great day to be stuck at #sydairport #torture," tweeted Inglis.

"Power outages at Sydney Airport. Can't even get through security. I think we may be running late," posted McQueen.

Burgess added: "Powercut in Sydney Airport this morning is awesome. Long delays coming up."

Souths, who are up to third in the NRL ladder after four successive wins, are due to play the Cowboys at 7.30pm (EST) on Saturday evening.
