The Mole's player ratings: Young Canberra star 'strangely quiet' when it mattered most

The Raiders will head into the off-season severely disappointed after losing both finals matches despite winning the minor premiership.

It was a devastating end for the Green Machine, but on the flip side, the Sharks are alive in the title hunt.

Craig Fitzgibbon's side has only conceded 22 points in this finals series and he will have his men primed for a massive challenge against the Storm.

Here's how every player fared.

1. Kaeo Weekes

After a great season, strangely quiet on the night that the Raiders needed him most. Rating: 5.5

2. Savelio Tamale

Got one chance in attack and nailed it, running onto a Kris pass to score in the corner. Rating: 5

3. Matthew Timoko

Made 170 metres in attack but down on his regular-season form, failing to dent the line. Rating: 6

4. Sebastian Kris

Set up Tamale's try and made another line break. One of the better Raiders. Rating: 7

5. Jed Stuart

A bit shaky at times under the high ball and missed Ronaldo Mulitalo once in the highest-pressure match of his short NRL career. Rating: 5

15. Simi Sasagi

A late replacement for Ethan Strange. Was unlucky to have a try taken off him and dangerous with ball in hand. Rating: 7

7. Jamal Fogarty

His kicking game caused the Sharks some anxious moments but he failed to take control of the attack. Rating: 6

8. Josh Papalii

The veteran was kept well contained by the Sharks defence, making little impact in attack. Rating: 5

9. Tom Starling

The Raiders' most dangerous player, making ground time and again from dummy-half. Rating: 7.5

10. Joseph Tapine

Another Raiders big name who was down on his game, failing to dent the Sharks' well-disciplined defence. Rating: 6

11. Hudson Young

Gave his all, running for nearly 200 metres, but was very much a one-man band out wide for his team. Rating: 7

12. Zac Hosking

Did his job for the coach without ever causing the defence any threat in attack. Rating: 5

13. Corey Horsburgh

Scored the game's opening try and worked his butt off trying to lift his team's enthusiasm. Rating: 7

14. Owen Pattie

Got the final 16 minutes but the game was already won and lost by that stage. Rating: 4

16. Morgan Smithies

Six runs for 35 metres off the bench - not enough to turn the tide. Rating: 5

17. Ata Mariota

Played 20 minutes and was barely sighted - not quite up to this standard in the finals. Rating: 4

18. Matt Nicholson

After a long layoff through injury, looked to be feeling his way in his brief time on the field. Rating: 4

CRONULLA SHARKS

1. William Kennedy

Did little in attack but was safe in defence and under Fogarty's booming kicking game. Rating: 6.5

2. Sione Katoa

Got few chances in the red zone but took the ball forward well from deep inside his own territory time and again. Rating: 7

3. Jesse Ramien

Was well marked by the Raiders defence but came up with a couple of strong effort plays. Rating: 6.5

4. KL Iro

Scored his customary try at a vital time and ran for a game-high 203 metres. Rating: 8

5. Ronaldo Mulitalo

Loved the hostile atmosphere in the capital and marked the win with his 100th NRL try. Rating: 7

6. Braydon Trindall

Combined smartly with Hynes to totally finish over their playmaking opposites, setting up a try and kicking well. Rating: 7.5

7. Nicho Hynes

Often criticised for going missing in big games, he scored a try and had a hand in two others. All class. Rating: 8.5

8. Addin Fonua-Blake

The most effective big man on the field, running for more than 150 metres and putting the Raiders on the back foot. Rating: 8

9. Blayke Brailey

Had a great duel with Starling, finishing just in front. Topped the tackle count and was a constant menace out of dummy-half. Rating: 8.5

10. Toby Rudolf

Making a huge contribution to the Sharks' late title surge, doing the hard work in the trenches. Rating: 7

11. Billy Burns

Under-rated player. Justified his spot in the team with the try that turned the tide, and never far off the ball. Rating: 8

12. Teig Wilton

Probably the best game of his career. Scored a try off his own grubber kick and made a couple of huge line breaks. Rating: 8.5

13. Jesse Colquhoun

The quiet achiever of the Sharks pack - rarely noticed but clocks up the metres and tackles. Rating: 7

14. Briton Nikora

Got half an hour but was fairly quiet, doing little damage to the Raiders defence. Rating: 5

15. Siosifa Talakai

The best bench man in the game in terms of impact, lifting the enthusiasm level in his 29 minutes and racking up more than 100 metres. Rating: 7.5

16. Braden Hamlin-Uele

Kept the Sharks on the boil when he got his chance off the bench, using his size and weight to good effect. Rating: 6.5

17. Thomas Hazelton

Knocked out by a head clash in the first half. Very unfortunate. Rating: 1
