Sandow, Gidley wounded after Wembley loss

Warrington are counting the cost of their agonising Challenge Cup final defeat, with Australian halves Chris Sandow and Kurt Gidley as well as England forward Ben Westwood ruled out of Saturday's Super League match against Catalans Dragons.

Five-eighth Gidley missed the last 22 minutes of the Wolves' 12-10 defeat by Hull at Wembley with a lacerated eye and will have scans to see if there is an injury to his eye socket.

His halfback partner Sandow completed the full 80 minutes on Saturday despite a knee injury and will also undergo scans to determine the extent of it.

Both players will miss the trip to France, along with Westwood who tore a pectoral muscle in the second half at Wembley and is unlikely to play again this season.

"He'll see the consultant but almost certainly needs some sort of operational repair," said Warrington coach Tony Smith.

"We're pretty confident that will rule him out for the rest of the season, which is a blow but he'll be back stronger for next year."
