'As cheap as it gets', Whitehead blasted for callous hit on Tom Burgess
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has implied Tom Burgess took a dive after copping an off the ball hit from Raiders forward Elliott Whitehead.
Whitehead was blasted for the brutal cheap-shot on Burgess during Saturday's clash at Central Coast Stadium.
"That's not for me to comment on. But I hope Sam's happy that Sezer doesn't lay down for him," Stuart said during the post-match press conference.
The controversial incident occurred early in the second-half when Burgess was flattened by his compatriot off the ball.
“That’s as cheap as it gets, boys,” commentator Brett Finch said.
“He hit him in the back from behind.
“Inglis is getting tackled when he hits him.”
A noticeably hurt Burgess was tended to on the field by Souths' medical staff.
