Penrith Panthers reportedly shopping star half James Maloney

The Penrith Panthers’ tumultuous season is set to continue with star halfback James Maloney reportedly being shopped around by the team.

Speaking on the NRL Footy Show, Nine reporter Ben Dobbin reported that Maloney, who is currently out with a knee injury, is “definitely” being shopped around by the Panthers.

Dobin also revealed that the Gold Coast Titans are one team keeping an eye on the Blues Origin star, with Titans coach Garth Brennan keen on bringing the 32-year-old up north.

“I spoke to Garth Brennan this week about the possibility of Maloney coming to the Titans,” Dobbin said.

“Garth was very clear that he’d love to have James Maloney at the Titans.

“He thought he’d be a great role model for Ash Taylor to mould his game and improve.

“It’s just whether or not you can get James Maloney to the coast and whether or not he’d like to ship his family.”

Maloney arrived in Penrith at the start of the season and was given a three-year deal with the Panthers, with Matt Moylan joining Cronulla as a part of the player swap deal.
