Superstar Bronco Payne Haas required a Medicab to take him from the field in the Broncos' round 25 clash with the Knights after going down with a serious ankle injury.

While attempting to gather possession of a loose ball midway through the first half, Haas landed awkwardly on his ankle as trainers tended to him on the touchline.

He attempted to hobble from the field before the forward was shouldered by a group of Broncos staff. The Medicab soon appeared and escorted Haas off of Suncorp Stadium as he clutched at his head in distress.

The early reports suggest a high ankle sprain, with a worst-case scenario being a syndesmosis injury.

"I spoke to the Broncos physio and he said Payne Haas wouldn't let him touch the area that was in concern," Broncos great Corey Parker told Fox League.

"He thinks it's a high ankle, which is syndesmosis. That's not great for Payne Haas."

Adding to the Broncos' injury woes, minutes later hooker Jake Turpin broke his jaw, ending his afternoon and season.
