NRL: Wests Tigers poised to sign Sydney Roosters utility Ryan Matterson

The Tigers have beaten a host of clubs to sign Roosters utility Ryan Matterson for next season.

Matterson is poised to sign a two-year deal with the Tigers after WWOS revealed earlier this week that he had been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs.

Souths were favoured to sign Matterson after the Roosters signed  Rabbitohs and New South Wales State of Origin forward Angus Crichton for next season.

Parramatta, Cronulla and Canberra were all keen on the the 23-year-old utility, who can play second-row, five-eighth and centre.

But Matterson believes his best chance of a regular top grade spot is with the Tigers and he will be a handy addition to their squad.

A Parramatta junior, Matterson is in the Roosters’ squad for the first round of the finals against Cronulla this weekend.
