Sydney Roosters eye Kyle Flanagan as Cooper Cronk replacement
The Sydney Roosters are considering making a bid for rising Sharks star Kyle Flanagan for next season.
With Cooper Cronk due to retire at year’s end, the Roosters are looking around for a long-term number seven.
Flanagan signed a lengthy contract extension at the Sharks late last year but a month later his father resigned from the club in disgrace after the NRL discovered he was secretly in constant touch with Cronulla officials during his peptides ban.

That has naturally strained the relationship between the family and the Sharks and has put the young halfback’s future under a cloud.
The Eels are also interested in the 20-year-old, who is ranked among the best up-and-coming playmakers on the rugby league scene.
Cronk’s contract with the Roosters expires at the end of this season, but the 35-year-old hasn’t ruled out the possibility of running around again in 2020.
