Tariq Sims escapes suspension for stray knee clearing path to Origin selection
Dragons enforcer Tariq Sims has been charged but escaped suspension for a kneeing incident in last night's loss to the Tigers clearing his path to State of Origin selection.
The incident happened 30 seconds into the second half, when Sims' knee came in contact with the head of Tigers' rake Jacob Liddle, forcing him off the field for an HIA three minutes later. Liddle returned to the field of play.
The incident was ruled accidental during the game by the bunker but the match review committee hit Sims with a grade one dangerous contact head/neck charge resulting in a fine.

If Sims pleads guilty he'll pay $1900 if he chooses to fight the charge and loses he'll pay $2550.
Warriors players Reece Walsh and Adam Pompey face bans after their one-point loss to the Cowboys. Walsh was hit with a grade one striking charge and will miss one match with an early plea or two games if he unsuccessfully fights the charge.
Pompey will miss one game for a crusher tackle if he takes the early plea or two matches if he takes the charge to the judiciary and loses. Teammate Jazz Trevaga also faces a fine for dangerous contact.
The Cowboys' Mitchell Dunn will sit a game for a high tackle on Walsh and could miss two games if he fights it.
The Tigers' Luciano Leilua also faces a one-match ban with an early plea for a shoulder charge against the Dragons. He'll sit two games if he challenges the ruling at the judiciary and loses.
