Greg Inglis has suffered a setback in his recovery from the knee injury that forced him to miss the entire 2017 season.

Inglis was making great progress but was still experiencing pain in the joint and went under the knife again recently.

Souths officials kept the surgery quiet and it has been described as little more than a ‘cleanout’ - but it will put his progress back a couple of weeks.

Inglis tore the ACL in the opening round of the year, remarkably staying on the field and even scoring a try.

But the club was devastated by the news of the injury and never really recovered, missing the finals.

Inglis is hopeful to be fit again for the 2018 trials but has been taking it a bit easier since his second stint in hospital, careful not to do any further damage.
