Troubled Parramatta Eels star Kieran Foran has rubbished rumours he is set to quit the game after declaring he needs "football in his life".

The New Zealand playmaker has endured a horror 2016 with the 25-year-old spending three weeks in a Queensland rehabilitation clinic, been linked to a $75,000 betting splurge and was forced to deal with scandalous rumours centred on his personal life.

But despite the off-field dramas, Foran declared he has never entertained the thought of walking away from the Eels.

"Probably the opposite to be honest," Foran said in a statement.

"(I) wanted to let the Parramatta fans know that I have no intention of quitting footy.

"I need football in my life."

The star is currently battling a shoulder injury and even that set back has "reinforced" the benefits of pulling on the boots each and every week.
