NSW Blues want to 'sink the slipper in' to Queensland in final State of Origin game

There might be one more game to go before the job is officially complete but NSW’s win over Queensland to take out this this year’s State of Origin series has seen them awarded the Fuchs Performance of the Week.

Blues coach Brad Fittler took a massive gamble when he named 11 new faces in his team for the opening game of the series in Melbourne but the move paid off handsomely with NSW taking an unassailable 2-0 lead to win their first series in 2014.

They now will be aiming to become the first Blues team since 2000 – of which Fittler was a part of as a player under coach Wayne Pearce – to win the series 3-0.

"You can bring out the broom hopefully," NSW lock Jack de Belin said.

"Just to try and sink the slipper in a bit, which is what they've been doing to NSW for years.

"I was there for every game last year and when we had the series wrapped up here and to lose it in such difficult circumstances and to go up to Brisbane and get blown out was tough.

"Obviously, I didn't play but I've seen how much it hurt the boys.”
