NRL gathers to celebrate newlywed Burgess
The NRL community has gathered to celebrate the marriage of South Sydney star Sam Burgess and Phoebe Hooke in an intimate ceremony at the bride's family estate in the NSW Southern Highlands.
The couple, who dated for a year before becoming engaged in Greece earlier this year, tied the knot in front of family and friends in the rural surroundings of Bowral.
Hooke, wearing an Alex Perry gown, dazzled as she walked down the aisle, while Burgess took a step away from the famous red and green for a smart tuxedo.
Hosting rugby league's cream of the crop, the guest list contained a who's who of the sport's elite, including a raft of teammates, while brothers George and Tom were front and centre in their role as groomsmen.
Rabbitohs owner Russell Crowe added a little Hollywood glamour to the event, while former league greats Mark Carroll and Steve Menzies were also in attendance.
The fairytale end to the year follows a turbulent 12 months for Burgess, who turned his back on rugby union and returned to the NRL after failing to fire at the World Cup in England.
