'The kid's got some skills': Cowboys teen freak Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow impresses on debut

North Queensland Cowboys prodigy Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow had huge expectations upon him ahead of his debut against the Warriors, and the teen freak didn't disappoint.

Renowned for his speed, rumoured to be faster than Storm star Josh Addo-Carr, all eyes were on the 'The Cheetah' as he is known by teammates after impressing in the pre-season 9s.

Within minutes however the 18-year-old showed he's more than just on-field F1 as he left his mark on the game after being brought into the side to replace Ben Hampton.

Swapping positions to fullback to cover for an injured Valentine Holmes, Tabuai-Fidow set up the former NFL hopeful with a stunning floated cut-out pass which left the Warriors' defence bamboozled.

NRL great Corey Parker who has worked with the teen sensation in junior Origin camp for Queensland, wasn't surprised by the display.

"He's shown his class there hasn't he, the Hammer," Parker said.

"A sleight of hand to man of the moment Val Holmes.

"It's a wonderful thing to have, particularly on debut. The Hammer comes in, he finds himself on the wing, he finds himself at fullback, he had a breather then he injected himself.

"He wanted the ball, he wanted that fullback role. That's his go-to play, to swing out the back, a nice sleight of hand."

Fox Sports' Dan Ginnane added: "The kid's got some skills, he throws a delightful pass."

In the second half he got another try assist, setting up left winger again but this time it was Justin O'Neill.

Cowboys coach Paul Green was reserved in his praise for Tabuai-Fidow, who came up with two try assists, and was left fuming by his team's defence.

"That's probably his natural position, (where) he played the most growing up, so he did a pretty good job," Green said.

"He got caught out on one of those kick tries but generally speaking he did a pretty good job."
