Candice Warner: No City-Country, no State of Origin
With City coach Brad Fittler facing an uphill battle to find a full side for Sunday’s match against Country in Mudgee, the issue caused plenty of debate on Channel Nine's Sports Sunday.
Panellist Candice Warner had the most controversial solution, suggesting any player choosing to skip the match shouldn’t be able to play other representative fixtures.
“If you’re not going to make yourself eligible for City-Country then you shouldn’t be eligible for State of Origin, or to represent Australia,” Warner said.
“You’ve got to be eligible for everything.”
A host of players have been made unavailable for the match by their clubs, with the situation so bad Fittler was forced to delay naming his side while he searched for 17 players.
Sports Sunday airs live on Channel Nine every week at 10am AEST
