Raiders set to table $4.4m deal to Origin star as market explodes
Hudson Young is set to consider a four-year, $4.4 million deal according to The Sydney Morning Herald, as the Raiders look to keep him locked in long-term.
Young’s contract has been a hot topic after he was linked with the PNG Chiefs, but complications arose around what the incoming franchise was prepared to offer.

PNG were reportedly set to table a deal worth $900,000 per year which would have enabled Young to earn more than what he’s on at the Raiders due to tax-free concessions at the club.
However, the Chiefs were told if they wanted the Origin star they needed to offer his market value of $1.1 million. Since then, the interest has cooled, with the Raiders now in the box-seat to retain the back-rower.
Canberra’s original offer was three years for the same value, but they look to be extending that out to one year.
The 28-year-old’s potential deal represents an exploding market for back rowers.
Liam Martin is reportedly seeking a deal worth $1 million a season while Jacob Preston recently signed a new contract with the Bulldogs through to the end of 2031 estimated to be worth $750,000 per season/
Haumole Olakau’atu also extended with Manly in 2023 on an eight-year deal for around $850,000 to $900,000-a-season.
David Fifita was famously on a $1m contract at the Titans before his move to South Sydney, where he could become available from November 1.
