The Mole: Sharks 'can't make an offer' as captain Cameron McInnes faces possibility of early retirement
Cronulla skipper and former State of Origin star Cameron McInnes may be let go by the club at the end of the season.
One of the Sharks' most popular players and an Origin player only two years ago, McInnes may have to face the possibility of retirement.
The veteran forward, who turned 32 last month, has a history of head knocks and that may play a role in his and the club's decision.

"They (Cronulla) can't make an offer now and not sure what it would look like," McInnes said on the Chiming In podcast, hosted by player manager Steve Gillis.
With a dozen players coming off contract, it appears the Sharks are set for mass changes for 2027.

On Thursday, Wide World of Sports revealed star centre Jesse Ramien, also a free agent at the end of this year, was spotted having coffee with Cowboys coach Todd Payten.
McInnes is a true warrior. He debuted with South Sydney in 2014 and has since played over 200 games in the engine room.

After three seasons at the Bunnies, he moved to the Dragons for four years before spending the past four years at Cronulla.
He has had several major injuries but is a devoted trainer and came back from each one.
He is a captain who leads from the front and invariably tops the Sharks tackle count.
