Peter V'landys warns departing Eel Zac Lomax of R360's 'wild promises'

Zac Lomax could be the first NRL star hit with a 10-year ban if he is to sign on with R360, but ARLC chair Peter V'landys has warned the winger to consider the risks to his career that could follow if he is to accept the rival tournament's "wild promises".

Lomax was granted an immediate release from his contract with the Parramatta Eels on Sunday, a move that only added fuel to the fire of his rumoured move to R360.

No confirmation was given about where Lomax would be heading to in the near future, although the Eels did say that he will "pursue opportunities outside the NRL".

In August, Wide World of Sports reported Lomax had told Eels officials he was considering switching to the rebel competition.

Today, V'landys cautioned against signing with the breakaway tournament.

"If I was one of the players who signs (with R360), I would be asking for a bank guarantee or my money upfront," V'landys told 9News.

"Anyone can make wild promises, it is if they can deliver."

He added he is "still doubtful" that the newly developed league will get off the ground as "there is still so much to do".

V'landys made the league's stance on the rival league clear earlier this year, telling athletes they would be hit with a 10-year ban if they joined R360.

The ARLC has also stated any accredited player agent involved in representing a player who switches will be subject to the same ten-year ban.

Parramatta thanked the 26-year-old Lomax for his contributions in a statement on Sunday

"The club would like to thank Zac for his contribution during his time with the Eels in 2025 and we wish him all the best for the future," the club said.

Lomax joined the Eels after securing an early release from the St George Illawarra Dragons after a turbulent time at the club.

The Origin representative signed on a four-year deal with Parramatta and was only one year into it before his exit.

Ryan Papenhuyzen has also been linked with R360 and was released by Melbourne at the end of the season. He is yet to sign with any club or code.
