The Parramatta Eels have come out on top in the race to land Tallyn Da Silva's signature as the young star prepares to part ways with the Wests Tigers, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The 20-year-old had until Monday's June 30 deadline to ink a deal if he wished to make a mid-season move after being told last week he could negotiate with rival teams.

Da Silva's management began talks with teams on Wednesday, while Tigers coach Benji Marshall admitted the club is looking to extend the tenure of skipper Api Koroisau.

Parramatta and Manly were the leaders in the battle to secure Da Silva's talents alongside Newcastle who were the first to approach the Tigers about an early release.

The Cowboys were also floated as a possible landing place for Da Silva, although the young star's preference was to remain close to his family in Sydney.

Manly were informed on Sunday afternoon that Da Silva would be taking up an opportunity with the Eels, according to the report.

A deal is set to be sealed between Parramatta and Da Silva on Monday.
