'The fight's not over': Rabbitohs boss responds after Allianz Stadium move rejected

South Sydney have been rejected by the NSW Government in their bid to return to Allianz Stadium from next season - but the club aren't giving up yet.

The situation has been dragging on for quite some time, with an online petition created by the Rabbitohs attracting close to 15,000 signatures.

However, that wasn't enough to sway the decision-makers, who are sticking strong with the contract signed by Souths to play their home games at Accor Stadium.

In a statement released on social media, chief executive Blake Solly said it was "by no means the end of the process" as the Bunnies fight to return to Moore Park.

"Minister [Stephen] Kamper has written to us rejecting our request," he said.

"We'll review the letter and his reasons, then consider a response and our further options. We remain committed to discussing the issue.

"This is by no means the end of the process."

The post was accompanied by a defiant caption from the Bunnies.

Souths moved their home base to Homebush two decades ago for financial reasons, but are looking to switch back and share their old stadium with the Sydney Roosters.

The petition has illustrated a number of reasons for the desired move, including the fact that Accor Stadium "lacks atmosphere" and "no longer serves the club or its fans" due to being located more than 30 kilometres from the home base of Redfern and Maroubra.

There have also been claims from the Rabbitohs that the "promised upgrades" from the NSW Government when they signed a new contract to play home games there have not been met, prompting the desire to move away from the venue.
