Sitili Tupouniua facing ban, Reed Mahoney fined after Canterbury's fiery win over Sharks

Reed Mahoney has escaped suspension for two separate incidents in Canterbury's fiery round four win over the Sharks - but teammate Sitili Tupouniua wasn't as lucky.

The dummy-half landed in hot water after dropping a shoulder into the back of Daniel Atkinson's head on Saturday night, but managed to avoid a trip to the sin bin.

Mahoney has since been hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge for the tackle on Atkinson, while also receiving a grade one careless high tackle charge for another incident in the 20-6 victory at Shark Park.

Both charges will result in an $1800 fine should Mahoney take the early guilty plea.

Tupouniua on the other hand will miss one game through suspension with an early guilty plea after a late hit on Braydon Trindall in the final minute.

If the back-rower fights the charge and loses, he will sit out two matches.

Tupouniua was binned for 10 minutes in the dying stages.

Canterbury continued their winning ways with the 20-6 triumph on the road and now remain the only undefeated side in the competition after four rounds.
